As a mother of two young children living in Atlanta, I have come to realize the importance of finding a good pediatric dentist my children can be comfortable with. Their first dentist was a very competent physician, but unfortunately my children were scared of him. He seemed serious so didn’t smile often; his office had a clinical appearance and he didn’t do much to ease my children’s anxieties. As a result, my children were often so uncomfortable that they cried. Going to the dentist for their regular check-ups soon became an unpleasant experience so finding a better dentist for my younglings was the logical step to make.

I asked other mothers for their recommendations and several suggested I try a pediatric dentist who lived a couple of blocks from my house. This dentist turned out to be the one I had been searching for. Not only was he charming and funny, which put my children at ease, but his office was very colorful, almost like a daycare center. There was always nice music playing inside his office which seemed to delight my children.

He was also very passionate about his profession. He taught my children how to brush their teeth correctly and gave them X-rays to check for cavities. In addition, he gave my children proper nutrition advice and educated me about the development of children’s teeth. During procedures, he gave them appropriate sedations. My children claimed that they felt no pain or discomfort and actually enjoyed going to his office!

Finding a suitable pediatric dentist in a large metropolitan area can be a challenge and Atlanta dentistry is no exception. Pediatric dentistry is a delicate profession, requiring practitioners who have a certain way with children.

In addition, a good pediatric dentist is someone who can educate you on the proper way to care for your children’s teeth. They give you advice on nutrition and help you understand the different stages in tooth and gum development in young children. Finding a dentist that charges reasonable rates can also be a challenge. Believe me; Atlanta dentistry is big business and prices can be exorbitant.

My children will be needing braces soon and I’m going back to their dentist in a few weeks to get proper x-rays and moulds done. Atlanta dentistry isn’t always cheap, but I’m grateful to have found the ideal dentist for my children.
